Wayne, NJ – Stockton University (17-15, 9-5 NJAC) won for the sixth time in the last eight games, as the Ospreys took a doubleheader from host William Paterson (20-11-1, 5-8-1 NJAC) by scores of 2-0 and 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Nerina Tramp (Blackwood/Highland) and
Jenna Crampton (High Bridge/Voorhees) tossed complete game shutouts on the day.
Game one saw Stockton post a run in the top of the first inning, when
Kayla Posten (Cherry Hill/Cherry Hill West) scored on an RBI double by
Jenna Patterson (Mullica Hill/Clearview) for the 1-0 lead. The Ospreys added an insurance run in the sixth frame on a
Michaela Luyber (Bordentown/Bordentown) RBI.
That was all Tramp needed as she won for the ninth time this season, allowing three hits and striking out six Pioneers in garnering her 11th complete game and second shutout of the season.
It was Patterson again to start the second game, as she blasted a two-run homer, her fourth of the year, for the first inning 2-0 lead. In the fifth inning, the Ospreys tallied an insurance run on a double by Posten for the 3-0 final score.
Crampton was solid, as she tossed her second shutout of the season with a one walk, five strikeout performance, while holding William Paterson to just five hits.
Charli Czaczkowski (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) extended her hitting streak to 15 straight games with a safety in each of the contests today.
Stockton will return home to face Rutgers-Camden on Tuesday for their next twin bill. The first pitch is scheduled for 3 pm.
