Union, N.J. – Stockton University (13-10, 1-3 NJAC) completed its home-and-home series with Kean University (14-11, 3-1) by suffering a 13-4 defeat on the road. The Ospreys were hampered by five errors that resulted in eight unearned runs for the Cougars.
Antonio Gatti (Howell/Howell) went 2-3 with a double, RBI and a walk.
Nick Avagnano (Paramus/Paramus) contributed a double and a run while
Kevin Novobilsky (Ocean Twp./Ocean Twp.) was 1-3 with two runs and a walk.
Kean scored six runs in the first three innings before Stockton got on the board in the fourth.
Cooper Fiore (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) delivered Novobilsky with an RBI single. After Kean added two markers,
Tucker Elder (Ewing/Ewing) stroked an RBI single in the seventh inning that made it 8-2.
Kean tacked on five more runs in the bottom of the seventh. Stockton scored twice in the eighth frame. An RBI double by Gatti plated Novobilsky and
C.J. Fredericks (Jobstown/Northern Burlington) lofted a sacrifice fly for an RBI and the last run of the 13-4 setback.
For Kean, Josh Jackson went 2-2 with a home run, three RBI, four runs and two walks. Justin Teixeira went 3-3 with two runs, two walks and an RBI.
Stockton will be right back on the field tomorrow for an NJAC doubleheader at home against New Jersey City that begins at 11:30 a.m.
