Stockton Downs Ramapo in NJAC Opener

 Mahwah, NJ – Stockton University (10-2, 1-0 NJAC) opened up NJAC play with a 21-5 rout of host Ramapo (4-6, 0-1 NJAC) on Saturday afternoon.10 different Ospreys scored goals on the day with Mary McLaughlin (Somers Point/Mainland), Isabella Marinello (West Caldwell/Caldwell), Lilly Alessandro (Jenkintown, PA/Abington) and Mary Meduri (Brigantine/Our Lady of Mercy) scoring three goals each.
 
Stockton bolted out of the gate in the first period scoring nine goals for a commanding 9-3 lead, with Marinello and Alessandro potted a pair of markers each. The Ospreys kept up the pressure in the second stanza opening the lead to 13-4 at the break.
 
The second half became academic as Stockton continued to hit the net, outscoring the Roadrunners 8-1 on the way to the 21-5 final score.
 
Aubrey Giordano (Mt. Olive/Mt. Olive), Lexie Jackson Barnegat/Barnegat) and Margot Costello (South Brunswick/South Brunswick) chipped in with two goals each, while Marinello added two assists for a five-point day. Lucy Sullivan (Lafayette Hill, PA/Plymouth Meeting) dished a game-high four helpers.
 
Drew Coxson (Chatham/Chatham) led the defense with six ground balls and a single-game record six caused turnovers in the game.
 
Goalkeepers Jordan Hawkes (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) and Daniela Elliott (Wayne/Wayne Valley) each played a half, with Elliott making two of the three saves for Stockton.
 
Kelly Griffin and Colleen Mason scored twice each for the Roadrunners, with netminder Alyssa Curto making 11 saves.
 
Stockton will have 10 days off until April 18 when the Ospreys will face The College of New Jersey at home. The Lions are ranked #4 nationally by the IWLCA.
