Glenside, Pa. – Stockton University (0-1) started the 2023 season on the road, where the Ospreys fell to Arcadia University (1-0) by a 3-1 count. Two goals by the home team in the fourth quarter proved to be the difference in the game.
Allie Palumbo (Mantua/Clearview) scored Stockton's goal on one of her team high four shots. After a scoreless first half, the Knights opened the scoring early in the third quarter. Palumbo later tied the game on an outstanding individual play with 1:30 left in the period.
The junior stickhandled into space and took a shot that was saved by Arcadia goaltender Anna Doblovosky. Palumbo corralled the rebound, spun and swiped a backhand into the cage to pull Stockton even at 1-1. Arcadia's Morganne Dee broke the tie with a pair of goals in the fourth quarter as the Knights dealt the Ospreys the 3-1 setback.
Stockton goalie
Kylie Mitchell (Shamong/Seneca) made five saves and
Ameera Bilgrami (Voorhees/Eastern Regional) contributed a defensive save for the Ospreys. Doblovosky finished with three saves for Arcadia.
Stockton will be on the road again on Sunday for a 1:00 pm contest at Salisbury University, which is ranked No. 4 in the NFHCA Division III coaches poll.
