Reading, PA – Stockton University (5-2) ran their unbeaten streak to five straight games, with a 2-1 victory in overtime over Alvernia (3-3) on Saturday afternoon.
Allie Palumbo (Mantua/Clearview) continued her torrid start with the game winner in the extra frame.

The fast-paced match featured 33 shots fired by both teams during the game with 17 being on net. Stockton held the advantages in both categories holding a 22-11 margin in shots and 11-6 in shots on goal, as well as a 14-6 advantage in penalty corners.

Carlee Thompson (Gibbsboro/Eastern Regional) opened the scoring at 11:53 of the first period, with her second marker of the season to give Stockton a 1-0 lead. The Ospreys would keep up the pressure in the last 10 seconds of the frame with three penalty corners and three shots but could not convert another marker.

Ameera Bilgrami (Voorhees/Eastern Regional) tried to extend the lead at 17:01 of the second but Alvernia was able to make a defensive save to keep the game at 1-0. That would be the score at the break.

The Wolves picked up the pace in the third frame and scored the tying goal at 43:11. Briana Burkholder, assisted by Kathryn Palmer, knotted the match 1-1. The teams played to a scoreless fourth period, sending the game into the extra stanza.

The Ospreys dominated the overtime period, with Thompson getting a pair of shots that were kicked away. Palumbo had an attempt blocked and on the ensuing penalty corner, Stockton picked up the game winner.

With 8:37 gone in the period, Thompson inserted the pass to Bilgrami, whose shot was blocked. Palumbo pounced on the loose ball and deposited her seventh goal of the season for the 2-1 victory.

Freshman
Hannah Ayari-Dias (North Caldwell/West Essex) earned her fourth win of the season in net, making five saves. Her counterpart Lexi Boettcher turned away eight shots in the loss for Alvernia.

Stockton will play against Moravian University in Bethlehem, PA on Wednesday for their next match. Game time is scheduled for 7pm.
