Collegeville, Pa. – Stockton University (7-6) fell to Ursinus College (7-5) in three close sets 25-22, 25-21, 25-21. The defeat ended a five-match winning streak for the Ospreys. Stockton was unable to slow down a Bears offense that recorded a .281 hitting percentage.
Kate Louer (Clifton/Clifton) and
Nicole Palmer (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) led Stockton with eight kills apiece.
McKenna Ritchie (Newark, Del./Newark Charter School) topped the back row with a match-high 15 digs.
Regan Mendick (Newark, Del./Red Lion Christian) dished 13 assists and scooped five digs.
Jaylah Rolle (Williamstown/Williamstown) contributed six kills and two blocks.
Stockton got within 17-15 after an ace by Rolle but dropped the first set 25-22. Ursinus broke out to a 6-1 lead in the second stanza and stayed in front to down the Ospreys 25-21. Trailing 16-14 in the third set, Stockton fell victim to an 8-3 run on the way to another 25-21 setback that ended the match.
The Ospreys will begin NJAC play with their first home match of the season when they host Rowan University on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
