Stockton Wins Seventh Straight Game

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (7-2) extended their winning streak to seven with a 4-1 victory over Widener (2-5) on Tuesday night. Kirsten Bailey (Burlington Twp./Burlington) tallied two goals to pace the Ospreys. The streak is the longest since 2019 when the Ospreys rattled off 10 wins in a row.

Stockton got on the board with a goal at 9:29 of the first period. Ameera Bilgrami (Voorhees/Eastern Regional) hit the back of the cage off a penalty corner pass from Carlee Thompson (Gibbsboro/Eastern Regional) for a 1-0 lead.

The Ospreys tallied a pair of markers in the second frame, both by Bailey. The sophomore scored her first of the evening on a nice cross from Allie Palumbo (Mantua/Clearview) 1:19 into the stanza. It was Palumbo's league-leading sixth assist of the season.

Bailey then hit the cage again with 1:56 left in the half when she scored her fifth goal of the season. After Dakota Ludman (Cape May Court House/Middle Twp.) had her blast kicked away, Bailey pounced on the rebound to give Stockton a 3-0 margin at the break.

Makayla Alessi (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) wrapped up the Osprey scoring in the third quarter with a goal off a scrum in front for the four-goal advantage. The Pride ended the shutout bid with a tally in the third period. Neither team scored in the final period for the 4-1 victory for Stockton.

Freshman Jordan Czaczkowski (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) played the first 45 minutes in goal and earned her first career win. Kylie Mitchell (Shamong/Seneca) came on in relief to finish the match.

Maddie Hoyer scored the lone goal for the Pride with an assist from Meredith Marsteller. Lilly Rejrat started in net, playing 28:45, making three saves in the loss. Arwen Fithian finished up kicking out six Osprey attempts, as Stockton held a 20-5 margin in shots, with 14 on net.

Stockton will be home again on Thursday when the Ospreys will face Elizabethtown. Game time is scheduled for 6pm.
