Stockton Blanks Etown for Eighth Straight Win

Galloway, N.J. –Stockton University (8-2) extended its winning streak to eight consecutive games with a 3-0 victory over Elizabethtown (4-4) on a rainy night at the Stockton Turf Field. The eight-game win streak is the second longest in the program's 21 seasons.

Kirsten Bailey (Burlington Twp./Burlington Twp.) scored two goals for the second straight game. Allie Palumbo (Mantua/Clearview) tallied one goal and one assist.

Bailey potted an unassisted marker on her own rebound in the second quarter for the lone goal of a first half in which Stockton fired 13 shots on goal. Elizabethtown goalie Rachel Murphy kept the game close with 12 saves in the half.

In the third period, a centering pass from Palumbo deflected to Bailey, who flipped a high shot over a prone Murphy for her second goal of the night. Palumbo later added her eighth counter of the season, assisted by Carlee Thompson (Gibbsboro/Eastern Regional), with 11 minutes remaining to cap the 3-0 triumph.

Stockton goaltender Hannah Ayari-Dias (North Caldwell/West Essex) made three saves for her fourth shutout of the season. Backs Kaelin Drey (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown), Ameera Bilgrami (Voorhees/Eastern Regional) and Makayla Alessi (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) kept the scoring chances to a minimum with strong defensive play.

Murphy finished with 18 saves for the Blue Jays, whom Stockton outshot 29-9 in the contest.

Stockton will play four of its next five on the road, starting with a game at FDU-Florham on Saturday at noon.
