Stockton Scores Late for Ninth Straight Win

Madison, N.J. – Stockton University (9-2) scored three goals in the last 10 minutes to rally past FDU-Florham (3-6) for its ninth straight win 4-2. The Ospreys moved within one victory of the school record of 10 in a row in 2019.

Allie Palumbo (Mantua/Clearview) led Stockton with two goals and an assist. Carlee Thompson (Gibbsboro/Eastern Regional) and Alyssa Greiner (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) scored one goal apiece for the Ospreys.

An unassisted goal by Palumbo six minutes into the game gave Stockton an early lead but FDU-Florham's Megan Surgent tied it just 1:02 after. The Devils later took a 2-1 edge on a counter by Dominique Rodriguez with only 12 seconds remaining in the third quarter.

Stockton dominated the fourth period, outshooting the hosts 10-0 and scoring three times in the final 10 minutes. Palumbo tied the contest by netting her 10th marker of the season with 9:59 remaining. The Ospreys took the lead for good 1:17 later as Thompson potted the game-winner with an assist by Palumbo.

Greiner gave Stockton some breathing room by scoring on a penalty stroke with 4:07 left to seal the ninth consecutive triumph for the Ospreys, 4-2.

Stockton goaltender Hannah Ayari-Dias (North Caldwell/West Essex) made one save and collected the win. Emily Schlessinger tallied nine saves for FDU-Florham.

The Ospreys will begin NJAC play on Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. game at Rowan University, which is ranked No. 12 in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III poll.
