Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (4-1-4, 0-1-2 NJAC) played well against Kean University (6-0-4, 1-0-1 NJAC) but came away with a scoreless draw on Saturday afternoon.
Joseph Carbone (Pequannock/Pequannock) led the Ospreys with three shots on net for the game, played in rainy weather.
The squads battled through a scoreless first half, firing four shots each, with Stockton holding a slim 3-2 margin in shots on goal.
The second stanza saw the Ospreys ramp up the offense with three great opportunities, that were turned away by Cougars netminder Dominic Ridge. Just 1:01 into the frame,
Kieran Sundermann (Little Egg Harbor/Pinelands) squeezed off the first one that was stopped. 3
Carbone got off an attempt in the 56th minute that was also turned away, then three minutes later,
Dawson Joseph (East Brunswick/East Brunswick) snuck in from his defensive spot, but Ridge was up to the task again.
The Cougars had their best chance in the 76th minute but Stockton's backline was able to keep the ball out of the net. The visitors had two more shots before time expired, but neither was on the net and the match ended in a 0-0 tie.
Brady Bartletta (Hainesport/Rancocas Valley) made two saves in posting his fourth shutout of the season for the Ospreys. Ridge made seven saves for Kean.
Stockton will have a quick turnaround, as the Ospreys will face visiting Christopher Newport at home tomorrow at 1 pm. The Captains are in the Also Receiving Votes category by the United Soccer Coaches poll.
