Washington, D.C. – Stockton University (7-5) led by eight early in the fourth quarter but was overtaken down the stretch and fell to Gallaudet University (7-6) 72-66. The game was the first for the Ospreys since December 13.
Imene Fathi (Wildwood/Wildwood) led Stockton with 18 points and a career-high nine assists.
Danielle Jeffreys (Sicklerville/Williamstown) scored a career-high 14 points and
Skylar Fowlkes (Vineland/Vineland) tossed in 12 markers.
Fowlkes shot 6-9 (66.7%) and Jeffreys was 6-10 (60%) from the field.
Madison Dulude (Sewell/Washington Twp.) grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds while
Emma Morrone (Maywood/Hackensack) chipped in with eight points, eight assists, five rebounds and four steals.
Stockton held a slim 16-15 edge after one quarter behind eight points by Fathi. A layup by Fathi gave the Ospreys a 30-23 lead midway through the second period but the Bison closed the gap to one before a jumper by Morrone made it 35-32 in Stockton's favor at the half.
Gallaudet pulled ahead 51-48 late in the third quarter, but the Ospreys finished the stanza 10 straight points, including six by Fowlkes, for a 58-51 advantage after three. Stockton had its largest lead at 59-51 with 8:52 remaining in the game, however the Bison vaulted on top 62-59 with 11 unanswered points.
The Ospreys regrouped and went back in front 66-65 on a jumper by Fathi with 1:07 to play. Gallaudet then regained the lead at 67-66 just nine seconds later and Stockton did not score again, suffering the 72-66 setback.
Cassidy Perry paced the home team with game highs of 25 points and five steals. Rajena Guettler tallied 15 points and a team-high nine boards for the Bison.
Stockton will jump back into conference play with an NJAC game at Montclair on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
