Montclair, NJ – Stockton University (7-6, 0-1 NJAC) saw their six-game winning streak come to a halt with a 2-1 loss to Montclair State University (9-3, 2-0 NJAC) on Saturday afternoon. Kiera Lyons (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) scored the only goal for the Ospreys.
 
Lyons wasted no time potting her fifth goal of the season. Just 35 seconds in, she took a pass from Carlee Thompson (Gibbsboro/Eastern) to give Stockton a quick 1-0 lead. It was Thompson's team-leading sixth helper of the season.
 
The Red Hawks turned up the pressure, outshooting Stockton 11-2 during the first 30 minutes but could not get the tying score. That would change in the third period.
 
54 seconds into the second half, Sadie Eichlin knotted the game at 1-1, snapping the scoreless streak of goalkeeper Erika Roura (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) at 330:10. At 35:16, Tori Sutera, off an assist by Eichlin, tallied what would be the game winning tally.
 
Stockton had two opportunities to tie the game by Kirsten Bailey (Burlington/Burlington Twp.) at 49:45, then Riley DeMarco (Hammonton/Cedar Creek) seven seconds later, but both were turned away and the game ended in the 2-1 victory for the home team.
 
Roura made 11 saves in net, one off her career best. Sydney White earned the win for the Red Hawks with a three save effort.
 
Stockton will have a week off before facing Ramapo College next Saturday at home. Game time is set for 2:30 pm.
