New York, N.Y. – Stockton University (14-6) went to the Big Apple for a tri-match and came away with a split. The Ospreys dominated Mount St. Vincent (4-13) in an easy 25-12, 25-11, 25-7 sweep. Stockton stayed close but was blanked 3-0 by #22-ranked NYU (15-9). The set scores were 25-17, 25-18, 25-17.
Nicole Palmer (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) led the Ospreys with eight kills and added nine assists and a .636 hitting percentage in the win over Mount St. Vincent.
Kate Louer (Clifton/Clifton) and
Camille De La Torre (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) chipped in with five kills apiece. De La Torre also served four aces and Louer added three.
Regan Mendick (Newark, Del./Red Lion Christian) handed out 17 assists. Fourteen Ospreys saw action in the rout, with 10 of them recording at least one kill.
Palmer spiked a team-high 10 kills while Louer and
Rileigh Wilson (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen) each contributed six kills against NYU. Mendick again tallied 17 assists.
McKenna Ritchie (Newark, Del./Newark Charter) and
Jaylah Rolle (Williamstown/Williamstown) paced the defense with nine digs and four blocks respectively. Stockton stayed closed in the early stages of each set, but NYU eventually pulled away and downed the Ospreys in each stanza.
Stockton will host New Jersey City in a conference match at The Sports Center on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
