Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (15-6, 4-2 NJAC) held a commanding 42-19 advantage in kills and served 10 aces in a 3-0 sweep of New Jersey City (10-12, 2-3 NJAC). The win gave the Ospreys a solid grip on third place in the conference with three league matches to go.
Kate Louer (Clifton/Clifton) led Stockton with a match-high 10 kills and just one attack error for a high .429 hitting percentage.
Megan Sears (Oakland/Indian Hills) spiked a career-high seven kills on the night.
Nicole Palmer (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) recorded a double-double with 13 assists and a match-high 11 digs.
Regan Mendick (Newark, Del./Red Lion Christian) led everybody with 22 assists while
McKenna Ritchie (Newark, Del./Newark Charter) scooped nine digs and served a match-high five aces.
Stockton built a 13-7 lead and took the first set 25-20 behind four kills by Louer plus three apiece from
Ashley Carkhuff (Hackettstown/Hackettstown) and
Rileigh Wilson (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen). Sears smacked four kills in the second stanza, which the Ospreys closed with an 8-3 run for a 25-17 triumph.
Nine Stockton players recorded kills in the third set, led by Louer with four spikes on five attacks. The Ospreys posted a .481 hitting percentage and clinched the match with an easy 25-9 rout.
Brenda Gonzalez paced NJCU with five kills, six digs and two aces. Marina Millett tallied five kills and five digs while Keyanni Overstreet finished with 13 assists and five digs for the Gothic Knights.
Stockton will have a week off and then host Rutgers-Camden in an NJAC match next Tuesday, October 29 at 7:00 p.m.
