Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (10-6-2, 5-3-1 NJAC) finished their regular season slate with a convincing 3-1 victory over Kean University (7-8-3, 2-4-3 NJAC) on Wednesday evening.
Logan Shaw (Hainesport/Rancocas Valley) continued her fine season with a goal and an assist to lead the Ospreys.
Stockton started quickly, potting the first goal just 1:42 into the game.
Sophia Drea (Medford/Shawnee) took a pass from
Kayla Rozanski (Woodbury/Woodbury) and fired her second marker of the season to the top right corner for a 1-0 lead.
The Cougars would answer at 10:43 when Sonya Brewer fired a shot to the top corner to knot the match at 1-1. That would be the score through the rest of the half in the tightly contested first 45 minutes of play.
In the 64th minute, Shaw headed in a corner kick from
Emily Hauck (Jonestown, PA/Northern Lebanon) for her eighth goal of the season and a 2-1 lead, which would be the eventual game winner.
Less than 10 minutes later freshman
Billie Ormsby (Maple Shade/Maple Shade) took a crossing pass from Shaw and scored her first career goal for the insurance tally. That would be all the scoring in the 3-1 victory for the Ospreys.
Megan Brady (Rockaway/Morris Hills) made two saves in earning her fifth win of the year in net.
Kean netminder Abigail Wing kicked out three shots for the Cougars.
Stockton will begin the NJAC Tournament on Saturday as the number four seed and will host New Jersey City who will be the #5 seed. Game time at G. Larry James Stadium is scheduled for 4 pm.
