Stockton Dominates New Jersey City 6-0

Jersey City, NJ – Stockton University (3-4-4, 1-1-1 NJAC) earned their first conference win of the season with a convincing 6-0 victory over New Jersey City University (6-4-3, 0-3-0 NJAC) on Saturday afternoon. Joseph Carbone (Pequannock/Pequannock) led the team with a career-best six points on two goals and two assists on the day.

Carbone got the scoring underway at the 13:54 mark with his first marker of the game. The senior ran down a long punt by goalkeeper Brady Bartletta (Hainesport/Rancocas Valley) and volleyed home his first goal of the season.

Stockton exploded with a three-goal onslaught in the span of 14:32. In the 22nd minute, junior back Dawson Joseph (East Brunswick/East Brunswick) scored his first career goal. His low center shot off a pass from Antonio Matos (Hammonton/St. Augustine Prep) made it 2-0.

Just over six minutes later, Matos nailed his third marker of the year on an assist from Carbone before freshman Rory Grace (Princeton/West Windsor-Plainsboro) tallied his first career goal on a helper from Carbone to make it 4-0 at the break.

The Ospreys weren't finished as they put two more tallies on the board in the second half. At 54:28, Carbone scored an unassisted goal, then Chris Krall (Bordentown/Florence Twp.) potted his first career goal, unassisted, just under six minutes later for the 6-0 lead.

Stockton's defense was stellar in front of Bartletta, allowing just two shots on the day. The Osprey netminder posted his second win and shutout of the year without having to make a save.

Dominic Cunha made six saves in net for the Gothic Knights.

Stockton will play their second straight road tilt when the Ospreys face Widener University on Wednesday night in Chester, Pa. The non-conference match will start at 7 p.m.
