Stockton Downs NJCU 2-1

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (6-3-2, 1-1-1 NJAC) got back on the winning track with a 2-1 victory over New Jersey City University (4-2-4, 0-2-1 NJAC) on Saturday afternoon. Logan Shaw (Hainesport/Rancocas Valley) and Erica Dietz (Allentown, PA/Central Catholic) tallied the goals for Stockton.

Dietz opened the scoring just 1:18 into the match when she tipped in her fifth goal of the season for a 1-0 lead. She pounced on a deflection from the Gothic Knights defense and scored the marker.

Shaw made it 2-0 when she sped around a defender at the 11:33 mark. Her shot to the top right corner gave the home squad a two goal lead that would last into the break.

The Ospreys tried for the insurance goal, squeezing off four attempts in the final half to no avail. NJCU broke through in the 74th minute when Arianna Chavez picked up a loose ball in front the Stockton net to slice the margin to 2-1.

Neither team could mount another chance and Stockton came away with the one goal victory, giving the Ospreys their fifth win in the last six outings.

Megan Brady (Rockaway/Morris Hills) earned her second win of the season in net, making two saves.

Sophia Mannino kicked out seven shots in net for the Gothic Knights.

Stockton next match will be a non-conference tilt on Tuesday afternoon, when the Ospreys will face Eastern University in St. David's, PA. Game time is set for 3:30 pm.
