Stockton Outscores Eastern 100-94

St. David's, Pa. – Stockton University (3-1) outscored Eastern University (4-2) 100-94 in a fast-paced offensive affair on Thursday night. The Ospreys sank 12 three-pointers and shot 18-21 (85.7%) at the free throw line in the victory.
 
A pair of Stockton players combined for half of the team's points by reaching career highs. Martin Anguelov (Cape May/Wildwood Catholic) poured in 33 markers and EJ Matthews-Spratley (Cherry Hill/CH East) netted 27 points.
 
Anguelov shot 11-15 (73.3%) from the field including 5-7 (71.4%) from three-point range and also went a perfect 6-6 at the line. In addition to his 27 points, Matthews-Spratley tallied seven rebounds and five assists.
 
Eriq Campbell (West Atco/Lindenwold) hit double figures with 13 points and Christian Armstrong-Thomas (Marlton/Cherokee) tied his career high and led all players in the game with 11 rebounds.
 
The Ospreys shot a searing 9-15 (60%) from three-point range during a first half in which they scored 57 points and led by as much as 15 on the way to a 57-46 advantage at the break. Matthews-Spratley led the offense with 19 points and Anguelov contributed 14 counters.
 
Anguelov then exploded for 19 points and Campbell added 11 to help Stockton maintain the lead throughout the second half. Eastern got within 79-74 with 8:42 remaining, but a layup by Campbell, two free throws by Matthews-Spratley and a jumper by Anguelov upped the advantage to 11 at 85-74.
 
The Ospreys led by at least six over the final seven minutes and hit the century mark on two free throws by Anguelov with 16 seconds left in the 100-94 triumph.
 
Zubair Lee scored 33 points and grabbed nine rebounds for Eastern. Arkese Claiborne finished with 23 points and eight boards for the home team.
 
After starting the season with four straight away games, Stockton will play its home opener and NJAC opener on Tuesday by hosting Kean University at 7:30 p.m.
