Stockton Advances to NJAC Championship Game, 2-1

Montclair, N.J. – Stockton University (9-5-6) advanced to the NJAC championship game for the first time since 2004 with a 2-1 victory in a semifinal match at Montclair (12-5-2). The third-seeded Ospreys scored twice in the first half and held off the second-seeded Red Hawks in the second half for the win.

A pair of Stockton players each scored their second goal of the season for Stockton. Uche Wokocha (Galloway/St. Augustine Prep) gave the Ospreys a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal in the 27th minute.

Nico Calambas (Galloway/Absegami) made it 2-0 with an assist by Ernst Louisius (Asbury Park/Neptune) with 2:27 left in the first half. Montclair cut the Stockton lead to one by converting a penalty kick with 22:53 remaining in the game.

Stockton goalkeeper Brady Bartletta (Hainesport/Rancocas Valley) made three of his six saves in the last nine minutes of the match to preserve the lead. Montclair outshot the Ospreys 14-3 and attempted six corner kicks in the second half, but Stockton was able to protect its lead and advance to the NJAC championship with the 2-1 triumph.

The victory was Stockton's second over Montclair in the last 11 days as well as career win number 95 for head coach Greg Ruttler, moving him past recent Stockton Athletics Hall of Fame inductee Tim Lenahan for second on the program's all-time wins list.

Stockton will play for its first NJAC title since 2004 on Friday at No. 1 seed Rowan University, with kickoff slated for 6:00 p.m.
