Aston, Pa. – Stockton University (20-7) finished the regular season with a pair of victories in a tri-match on Saturday. The Ospreys swept host Neumann University (12-17) 3-0 and then rallied to defeat Salisbury University (22-5) 3-2. Stockton extended its winning streak to four with the triumphs.
Against Neumann,
Rileigh Wilson (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen) spiked nine kills with no errors on 12 attacks for a blistering .750 hitting percentage.
Camille De La Torre (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) also smacked nine kills.
Regan Mendick (Newark, Del./Red Lion Christian) dished 22 assists and
Kristen Burton (Millersville, Md./Archbishop Spalding) added 15 assists.
McKenna Ritchie (Newark, Del./Newark Charter) contributed 11 digs. The Ospreys won 25-22, 25-18, 25-22.
Wilson continued her big day with a career-high 20 kills and a .395 hitting percentage against Salisbury.
Kate Louer (Clifton/Clifton) notched her third double-double in the last five matches with 13 kills and 15 digs.
Mendick tied her season high with 30 assists while Burton tied her career high with 26 assists and added a career-best 10 digs for her for her first double-double at the college level. Ritchie also tallied 10 digs for the Ospreys.
Stockton prevailed 27-25 in the first set but then dropped the next two 25-19 and 25-16. In the fourth set, the Ospreys built a 17-10 that fizzled as Salisbury got within 18-17. Stockton responded with a 7-3 spurt to extend the match 25-20.
The Ospreys seemed in command of the fifth set at 14-8, but Salisbury fought off five match points to make it 14-13 before a kill by Mendick clinched the victory for the Ospreys at 15-13.
Stockton is the No. 3 seed for the NJAC Tournament and will host No. 6 seed New Jersey City in the first round on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
