York, Pa. – 22nd-ranked Stockton University (9-1) began its two-game stint at the York College Spartan Classic with a dominant 92-63 victory over Marywood University (7-5). The Ospreys shot 53.2% from the field including 46.2% (12-26) from beyond the arc in their seventh consecutive win.
Eriq Campbell (West Atco/Lindenwold) led Stockton with a game-high 23 points and eight rebounds. Campbell shot a scorching 10-14 (71.4%) from the field.
EJ Matthews-Spratley (Cherry Hill/CH East) totaled 18 points, six rebounds and a game-high six assists. Matthews-Spratley went 5-9 (55.6%) from the floor and a perfect 6-6 at the line.
Martin Anguelov (Cape May/Wildwood Catholic) continued his scoring binge with 16 points.
Tayvon Gaither (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) tossed in nine markers and tied Campbell for the team lead with eight boards. Stockton trailed for just 14 seconds in the entire game.
Matthews-Spratley sparked the Ospreys to a 41-28 halftime lead with 16 first-half points. Campbell chipped in with 10 counters before the break as he and Matthews-Spratley combined for 26 of Stockton's 41 points.
The Ospreys shot a blistering 57.8% (19-33) in the second half and led by double digits for the entire period. The Stockton bench got into the act late in the game, with freshman
Miles Chevalier (Toms River/Central Regional) scoring a career-high eight points in six minutes as the Ospreys cruised to the 92-63 rout.
Stockton will finish up at the Spartan Classic by playing host York College tomorrow at 4:00 p.m.
