Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

#22 Stockton Edged 96-94 by York in Overtime

York, Pa. – 22nd-ranked Stockton University (9-2) tied the game in the closing seconds of regulation but was edged 96-94 by host York College (6-3) in overtime at the York Spartan Classic. The defeat halted Stockton's seven-game winning streak.

Four Ospreys combined for 85 of their team's 94 points, led by EJ Matthews-Spratley (Cherry Hill/CH East) with a career-high 34 markers. Matthews-Spratley shot 50% from the field (12-24) and three-point range (6-12) and also tallied seven rebounds and five assists.

Eriq Campbell (West Atco/Lindenwold) went 7-11 (63.6%) and finished with 19 points followed by Tayvon Gaither (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) and Martin Anguelov (Cape May/Wildwood Catholic) with 16 points apiece. Christian Armstrong-Thomas (Marlton/Cherokee) grabbed a team-high nine rebounds and scored four points.

Neither team led by more than eight points in a game that was close throughout. Stockton faced a late 82-79 deficit when freshman Logan Mckee (Glen Mills, Pa./Phelps School) sank a clutch three-pointer, his only basket of the game, to tie it 82-82 with 10 seconds remaining. The Ospreys then survived a miss by York and the game went to overtime.

Stockton fell behind by six in OT but nearly rallied. A three-pointer by Matthews-Spratley and layup by Gaither were sandwiched around a York free throw as the Ospreys pulled within 95-94 with nine seconds left. Another York free throw made it 96-94 and Stockton's last-ditch effort to tie was off the mark.

Stockton will pause for the holidays and play their next game on January 4 when the Ospreys host #13 Gettysburg College at 2:00 p.m.
