EJ Matthews-Spratley (Cherry Hill/CH East) was named NJAC Player of the Week in men's basketball for the week of December 16-22. Matthews-Spratley led the Ospreys in scoring (26.0 ppg) and assists (5.5 apg) during two games at the York College (Pa.) Spartan Classic.
Matthews-Spratley shot 51.5% from the field (17-33) including 8-18 (44.4%) from three-point range and also went a near-perfect 10-11 (90.9%) at the line. The guard averaged 6.5 rebounds per game as well. Matthews-Spratley scored a career-high 34 points against York College on Saturday.
For the season, Matthews-Spratley leads the NJAC in free throw percentage (.902), ranks sixth in scoring (18.6 ppg) and three-pointers (2.5/game), tied for sixth in assists (3.5 apg) and ninth in three-point field goal percentage (.351).
Stockton, which is ranked 22nd in the D3hoops.com Top 25, stands at 9-2 overall including 5-0 in the NJAC entering the holiday break. The Ospreys are off until January 4 when they host 13th-ranked Gettysburg College at 2:00 p.m.
