Stockton Downed 74-64 by Penn State Abington

Abington, Pa. – Stockton University (6-5) played its first game in more than two weeks and fell to Penn State Abington (7-2) 74-64. The Ospreys led by three entering the fourth quarter, but they were overtaken by Abington in the final period.
 
Lauren Winant (Middletown/Middletown South) led Stockton with 14 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. Winant shot 5-9 (55.6%) from the field and topped all players on the glass.
 
Grace Speer (Estell Manor/ACIT) also hit double figures with 14 points and grabbed eight boards. Speer went 5-8 (62.5%) from the floor and a perfect 4-4 at the line.

Danielle Jeffreys (Sicklerville/Williamstown) scored nine points while Imene Fathi (Wildwood/Wildwood) dished a game-high seven assists and scored six points.
 
Stockton trailed by nine early in third quarter but outscored Abington 20-8 for a 50-47 lead. Speer led the charge with 12 points and Winant added five markers as the duo combined for all but three of Stockton's points in the period.
 
The Ospreys were unable to sustain the momentum in the fourth quarter, and they were outscored 27-14. Stockton surrendered the lead with 7:02 remaining and never got it back in the 74-64 defeat.
 
Winant and Jeffreys sparked Stockton to an 18-17 edge after one quarter with five points apiece in the opening stanza. Abington used a 20-12 second period to deal the Ospreys a 37-30 deficit at halftime. The third quarter belonged to Stockton, but the home team took over in the fourth.
 
Stockton will be on the road again on Saturday for a non-conference game at York College (N.Y.) that tips off at 1:00 p.m.
