Ewing, N.J. – Stockton University (4-3, 1-1 NJAC) returned from the Thanksgiving break with a conference game at The College of New Jersey (4-2, 2-0 NJAC) in which the Ospreys fell 68-52. Stockton slid behind in the first quarter and could not recover from the early deficit.
ChiChi Wokocha (Galloway/Absegami) tied her career high with 11 points and grabbed six rebounds.
Skylar Fowlkes (Vineland/Vineland) tossed in nine markers and tied for game-high honors with seven boards.
Freshman
Aiyonna Alexander (Sicklerville/Winslow Twp.) netted a career-high eight points in just 14 minutes played. The Ospreys scored 28 of their 52 points in the paint.
Stockton broke out to a 7-2 lead in the first 1:39 but was outscored 20-4 the rest of the first quarter and trailed 22-11. The slump continued early in the second period as the Ospreys went scoreless for nearly three minutes and margin grew to 16 at 27-11.
Overall, TCNJ topped Stockton 21-12 in the second quarter for a 43-23 count at the break. After a 14-10 third stanza, the fourth was Stockton's best as the Ospreys scored 19 points led by Alexander with six and Wokocha with four. Stockton got within 11 late, before falling 68-52.
Nina Branchizio and Katie Fricker paced TCNJ with 14 points apiece. The Lions shot a lofty 26-31 (83.9%) at the free throw line in the game.
Stockton will host William Paterson in NJAC action at The Sports Center on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
