Auburndale, Fla. – Stockton University (4-7) played its fourth game since Saturday evening and fell to Beloit College (Wis.) (3-3) 8-1. The game was tied after four innings before Beloit took the lead in the top of the fifth.
 
Tony Gatti (Howell/Howell) continued to swing a hot bat, extending his hitting streak to 11 games by going 2-4 with a run and a stolen base. Cooper Fiore (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) boosted his reached base streak to an incredible 36 straight games as he went 1-4 with an RBI.
 
After three scoreless innings, Beloit got on the board with one run in the top of the fourth. Stockton quickly tied the game in the bottom half. Gatti led off with a single and stole second. The outfielder advanced to third on a groundout and scored on an RBI groundout by Fiore for a 1-1 deadlock.
 
The game slipped away from Stockton in the top of the fifth as Beloit scored four times on four hits and an error to make it 5-1. The Ospreys threatened in the fifth and sixth frames but left two runners on base in each. Three more runs by the Bucs in the later innings set the final at 8-1.
 
Stockton used three pitchers in the contest, with Reece Miller (Toms River/TR East) holding Beloit scoreless and striking out two batters in a relief stint that covered the last 1.2 innings.
 
Stockton's busy stretch in the Sunshine State will continue tomorrow with a game against Springfield College (Mass.) at 12:30 p.m.
