Ashland, Va. – Stockton University (2-6) upset 10th-ranked Randolph-Macon (6-0-1) 5-2 in the nightcap of today's doubleheader to deal the Yellow Jackets their first loss of the season. The victory came after the Ospreys dropped the opener 9-1 in five innings.
Emily Spencer (Southampton/Seneca) hit a home run in each game, starting with a leadoff blast in the first game that gave Stockton an early 1-0 edge.
Aubrey Jeffers (Lumberton/Rancocas Valley) and
Regan Mendick (Newark, Del./Red Lion Christian) had one hit apiece in the game.
Randolph-Macon tied it 1-1 in the second inning, took the lead with six runs in the third frame and added two more in the fifth to invoke the eight-run rule. Stockton used four pitchers, starting with

Megan Dignam (Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth Academy) went 2-3 with a run and an RBI in the second game. Spencer again produced the first run of the contest with a solo homer, this time in the top of the third. The Yellow Jackets tied it in the bottom half and crept ahead 2-1 in the fourth stanza.
Jeffers led off the sixth inning with a walk and
Megan Sears (Oakland/Indian Hills) reached on an error. Jeffers scored the tying run on a bunt single by Dignam. Freshman
Alexa Panagopoylos (Atco/Hammonton) followed with her first career home run, a three-run blast that proved to be the difference.
Randolph-Macon got the tying run to the plate with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, but
