Poughkeepsie, NY – Stockton University (9-5, 2-1 CLC) climbed back from an early deficit, but fell to Vassar (8-4) on a late goal by a 13-12 score on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference matchup.
Reegan Capozzoli (Wayne/Wayne Valley) led the Ospreys with three goals and an assist for four points on the day.

The game was tight throughout against the Brewers with the home team taking a slim 4-3 lead after one quarter of play. The teams played evenly in the second frame with Vassar scoring two goal to offset a
Colin Hopkins (Springfield, PA/Springfield Delco) tally to forge a 6-4 advantage at the break.

Stockton came to life in period number three, hitting the net four times to just one for the home team and an 8-7 lead. After Vassar scored the first goal of the period, Capozzoli,
Liam DiFonzo (Springfield, PA/Springfield Delco),
Connor Albrecht (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West) and
Shane Phillips (Springfield, PA/Springfield Delco) tallied the next four markers for the lead.

The teams traded goals in the final frame, with Hopkins knotting the game for the fifth time with 2:05 remaining in regulation at 12-12. But Solomon Hess found his way through the Ospreys defense to score the game winner with just four seconds remaining for the one goal victory for the Brewers.

Brenden McSorley (Mantua/Clearview) and
Matt Gibson (Cape May Point/Lower Cape May) were stellar on defense causing five and four turnovers respectively, posting career-highs for both players.

Ben Blum (Mount Laurel/Lenape) made his first career start in net and made a career-high 12 saves.

Tony Santise scored three goals for Vassar, with teammate Eli Sherman scooping a game-high eight ground balls. Goalkeeper Drew Quinn made 10 saves for the win.

Stockton will return home to face Montclair State on Saturday in a Coastal Lacrosse Conference tilt for their next game. Game time is scheduled for 6 pm.
