Glassboro, N.J. – Stockton University (13-2, 2-2 NJAC) built an early two-goal lead but was unable to sustain the momentum and fell to Rowan University (5-9, 2-0 NJAC) 17-6 in a conference game on the road. All six goals by the Ospreys came during a close first half.
Mary McLaughlin (Somers Point/Mainland) scored two goals followed by
Mary Meduri (Brigantine/OLMA) with one goal and one assist. Three additional Stockton players netted one goal apiece.
Two goals by McLaughlin and one each from Meduri and
Margot Costello (South Brunswick/South Brunswick) staked Stockton to a 4-2 lead in the first 11 minutes of the game.
Lucy Sullivan (Lafayette Hill, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh) and
Anissa Serafine (Tabernacle/OLMA) netted one goal apiece during a second quarter that was tied 4-4 and 5-5 before ending with the Ospreys trailing 7-6.
Stockton registered nine shot attempts in the second half, but none found their way into the net. Rowan tallied four goals in the third quarter and six more in the fourth period for the 17-6 final score.
Gina Marotta (Montville/Montville) paced the defense with three caused turnovers and two ground balls while
Drew Coxson (Lancaster, Pa./Chatham) recorded three caused turnovers and two draw controls.
Stockton goalkeeper
Daniela Elliott (Wayne/Wayne Valley) made six saves in the game.
Molly Green topped Rowan with six goals and one assist while Elaina Corson scored five markers and goalie Mel Rodgers made nine saves.
Stockton will have more than a week off before playing its regular season finale at home against Ramapo on April 26 at 5:00 p.m.
