Mahwah, N.J. – Stockton University (7-3) advanced to the NJAC championship with a 5-1 victory over Ramapo College (10-5) in the semifinal round. The Ospreys won two out of three in doubles and then took the first three singles matches that were completed.
Sophia Pasquale (Galloway/Holy Spirit) and
Kierstyn Fenimore (Tabernacle/Seneca) rolled to an 8-2 rout at No. 1 doubles while
Carlee Cristella (Mantua/Clearview) and
Jamie Theophall (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) cruised to an 8-3 triumph at No. 2 doubles.
Cristella breezed to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles and Pasquale posted a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles.
Rocio Lucero (West New York/Memorial) contributed a 6-0, 6-4 conquest at No. 4 singles. Once Stockton clinched the team victory with the requisite five points, the match was halted.
Stockton reached the NJAC championship for the first time since 2021, which was the initial season for the conference tournament.
The Ospreys will play top-seeded The College of New Jersey for the title on Saturday at noon. The Lions have won 39 NJAC championships and shared one in the 40 seasons that women's tennis has been a conference sport. Prior to 2021, the champ was determined by the regular season standings.
