Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (23-16) hosted an NJAC Tournament game for the first time since 1994 but fell to The College of New Jersey (26-9) 4-0. The Ospreys are the No. 4 seed and TCNJ is the No. 5 seed for the double elimination tournament.
Stockton stroked three hits in the game, one single apiece by
Charli Czaczkowski (Jackson/Jackson Memorial),
Caitlin Cetrulo (Caldwell/James Caldwell) and
Brianna Segnello (Mt. Olive/Mt. Olive)
TCNJ got on the board quickly with an unearned run in the top of the first and the Lions scored again in the top of the third for a 2-0 count.
Stockton's best scoring chance came in the bottom of the third. Singles by Segnello and Czaczkowski put runners on first and second with two out, but the Ospreys failed to convert.
TCNJ scored once in the sixth frame and added an unearned marker in the top of the seventh for the 4-0 final.
TCNJ pitchers Elizabeth Gosse and Maya Knasiak stymied the Ospreys, retiring the final 10 Stockton batters in order following a two-out single by Cetrulo in the fourth inning. Kaci Neveling went 2-3 with three runs and two stolen bases for the Lions.
Stockton will host No. 6 seed Rutgers-Camden in an NJAC Tournament elimination game on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
