Stockton Upends #11 Rowan 5-2

Glassboro, N.J. – Stockton University (13-10, 4-1 NJAC) jumped out to a four-run lead and went on to defeat 11th-ranked Rowan University (13-7, 1-4 NJAC) by a 5-2 score. The Ospreys outhit the Profs 9-7 and stole three bases in the victory.

Tony Gatti (Howell/Howell) led the offense as he went 3-5 with a run and a stolen base. Evan Bresnen (Allentown/Steinert) continued his torrid hitting pace with two safeties for his ninth multi-hit game during his current 10-game hitting streak.

Stockton got on the board with a sacrifice fly by Jordan Nitti (Hamilton/Steinert) that scored Gatti in the top of the first. The Ospreys broke the game open with three runs in the fourth inning. Tucker Elder (Ewing/Ewing) singled home two runs and then scored on a Rowan error to make it 4-0.

Rowan cut the margin in half with two runs in the sixth frame before Stockton added an insurance run when Max Kaplan (Wall/Wall) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the top of the ninth for the final marker in the 5-2 triumph.

Three Osprey pitchers held the Profs in check. Starter Zack McCabe (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) allowed two runs on four hits in 6.1 innings of work for his second win of the season.

After Kyle Cipolla (Westwood/Westwood) tossed 0.2 innings, closer Reece Miller (Toms River/TR East) hurled two scoreless frames with three strikeouts and one hit allowed for his fourth save of the season.

The Ospreys and the Profs will tangle again on Tuesday in Galloway at 3:30 p.m.
