Ewing, N.J. – After winning its first 12 games of the season, the longest streak in program history, Stockton University (12-1, 1-1 NJAC) suffered its first setback, falling to 10th-ranked The College of New Jersey (8-3, 2-0 NJAC) 19-4.
The Ospreys were one of the last six remaining unbeaten teams out of 279 squads in NCAA Division III.
Stockton goalkeeper
Daniela Elliott (Wayne/Wayne Valley) stood up to heavy pressure as TCNJ held a 30-6 advantage in shots on goal. Elliott responded with a career-high 11 saves, topping her previous high of eight stops, which came four days ago against Kean.
Mary Meduri (Brigantine/OLMA) scored two goals followed by
Mary McLaughlin (Somers Point/Mainland) with a goal, an assist and a team-high four draw controls. McLaughlin's first-quarter goal was her 100th career point. She became the sixth Osprey to reach the century mark.
The Ospreys stayed close early as goals by McLaughlin and Meduri kept them within 4-2. TCNJ created some separation with four straight markers before
Brianna Robinson (Cape May CH/Middle Twp.) halted the run with an assist by McLaughlin.
Meduri scored Stockton's lone goal of the second half and
Lucy Sullivan (Lafayette Hill, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh) collected her second assist of the game on the play.
Marissa Lucca led TCNJ with six goals and two assists followed by Ally Tobler and Katherine Naiburg with three goals and three assists apiece.
Stockton will host Montclair in an NJAC game on Friday at 4:00 p.m.
