Petrolia Collects Third NJAC Weekly Award

5/15/2024 3:15:00 PM

Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University sophomore Emma Petrolia (New Milford/New Milford) was selected NJAC Track Athlete of the Week. Petrolia received her third NJAC weekly award of the outdoor season. She has been chosen NJAC Track Athlete of the Week twice and NJAC Field Athlete of the Week once this spring.

At the Widener Final Qualifier on Monday, Petrolia broke her own school record in the 400m hurdles by 1.39 seconds and moved up from 29th to 11th in NCAA Division III by running a time of 1:02.07. She finished second out of 10 runners in the event, just one hundredth of a second behind the winner.

Petrolia put herself in position for a spot in the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on May 23-25. The performance came just over a week after Petrolia earned four all-conference honors at the NJAC Championships (NJAC First Team triple jump, NJAC Second Team 400m hurdles, NJAC Honorable Mention long jump and 4x400 relay).

Prior to the NCAA Championships, Petrolia and the Ospreys will compete in the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Championships at SUNY Cortland on May 15-16.
