Stockton Forges a 1-1 Draw

Aston, PA – Stockton University (2-3-3) played to a 1-1 draw against host Neumann University (2-3-3) on Saturday afternoon. Antonio Matos (Hammonton/St. Augustine Prep) scored the lone goal for the Ospreys in the physical match that featured 15 yellow cards and one red card.

All of the scoring came in the first half as the Knights tallied their only marker 7:19 into the contest. Matos knotted the game in the 25th minute of the first half, on an assist from Joseph Carbone (Pequannock/Pequannock).

The Ospreys had numerous opportunities as the Knights received a red card in the 39th minute, giving Stockton a free kick and a man advantage for the rest of the game. Uche Wokocha (Galloway/St. Augustine) was turned away on the ensuing attempt and the game stayed at 1-1.

Unfortunately, Stockton could not push a goal through the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Stockton outshot the Knights 14-11, seven on net, with Matos getting two attempts on goal for the contest.

Kyle Birmingham (Budd Lake/Mt. Olive) made four saves in net for Stockton.

Stockton will have a week off before beginning conference play next Saturday afternoon, when the Ospreys will face NJAC foe William Paterson at G. Larry James Stadium. Game time is scheduled for 1 pm.
