Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (8-6, 4-3 NJAC) could not withstand a hot first quarter by Montclair State (11-3, 5-2 NJAC) and dropped a 67-54 decision on Saturday afternoon.
Grace Speer (Estell Manor/ACIT) posted her second double-double of the season with 17 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.

The Red Hawks started quickly taking a 21-8 lead after the first period, holding the Ospreys to just 16.7% (2-12) shooting. The home team rebounded a bit with a 12-10 second frame on the strength of five points each by Speer and
Evangelina Kim (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) closing the margin to 31-20 at the break.

The visitors expanded the lead to as many as 18 points, before Stockton tried to close the gap, drawing as close as 11 points at 59-48 with 3:50 remaining but that was as close as the Ospreys would come in the 67-54 defeat.

Kim totaled a career-high 10 points, seven in the first half, as the only other Osprey in double figures in the contest. Stockton grabbed 46 rebounds in the game with
Skylar Fowlkes (Vineland/Vineland) and
Danielle Jeffreys (Sicklerville/Williamstown) pulling down seven caroms each in support of Speer.

Montclair State had three players in double figures with Alyssa Craigwell leading the way with a game-high 18 markers. Alexis Strollo and Sophie Beneventine chipped in with 11 points each, while Olivia Vero pulled down a team-high 10 boards.

Stockton will take to the road for their next tilt as the Ospreys will travel to Glassboro, NJ to face Rowan University on Wednesday afternoon. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
