Wayne, N.J. – Stockton University (13-5, 8-3 NJAC) led for just over 38 of the game's 40 minutes and never trailed in a dominant 78-66 victory at William Paterson (5-13, 1-10 NJAC). The win kept the Ospreys in a three-way tie for first place in the ever-changing conference standings.
EJ Matthews-Spratley (Cherry Hill/CH East) led Stockton with a team-high 23 points plus nine rebounds and four assists.
Eriq Campbell (West Atco/Lindenwold) produced his fourth double-double of the season with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Campbell shot 7-8 (87.5%) from the field.
Christian Armstrong-Thomas (Marlton/Cherokee) and
Devon Johnson (Pine Hill/Overbook) tossed in eight and seven points respectively.
Andrew Crawford (Haddon Hts./Camden Catholic) dished a career-high eight assists. The Ospreys controlled the inside with 38 points in the paint and a 44-34 rebound advantage.
Matthews-Spratley and Campbell scored nine points apiece and sparked Stockton to a commanding 34-9 lead in the first 12 minutes of the game. William Paterson closed the gap to 11 before a dunk by
Jahmir Payoute (Irvington/Snyder) in the final seconds made it 38-25 in favor of the Ospreys at the half.
Stockton stayed ahead for at least nine points during the entire second half by shooting 52.2 (12-23) from the field. Matthews-Spratley and Campbell shot a combined 9-14 (64.3%) from the field, scoring 14 and 11 points respectively as the Ospreys coasted to the 78-66 triumph.
Neftali Valentin poured in a game-high 37 points for the host Pioneers.
Stockton will play their next two games at home starting with a matchup against The College of New Jersey on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
