Stockton Tops Rutgers-Camden 66-56

Camden, N.J. – Stockton University (8-5, 4-2 NJAC) returned to conference play by topping Rutgers-Camden (6-7, 2-4 NJAC) 66-56 for its fourth win in the last five games. The Ospreys shot 46.9% from the inside the three-point arc and never trailed in the victory.
 
Grace Speer (Estell Manor/ACIT) led Stockton with a dominant offensive performance in which she shot 9-11 (81.8%) from the field and scored a career-high 22 points. Speer also tied Skylar Fowlkes (Vineland/Vineland) for the team lead with seven rebounds and added a game-high three blocks.
 
Imene Fathi (Wildwood/Wildwood) hit double figures with 10 points to go with five rebounds plus team highs of five assists and three steals. Lauren Winant (Middletown/Middletown South) and Katie Rausch (South Brunswick/South Brunswick) chipped in with nine points apiece.
 
Speer went 4-4 from the floor and scored 11 points in the first half to spark the Ospreys to a 28-19 lead at the break. After Stockton extended its advantage to 11 in the third quarter, Rutgers-Camden fought back to within 42-37 entering the fourth period.
 
The margin closed to two points twice early in the final quarter, but Stockton answered each time, first with two free throws by Rausch and then on a basket by Fathi. The Scarlet Raptors got within 58-56 with 1:22 to play, however Speer sank a jumper and Rausch followed with a three-pointer as the Ospreys clinched the 66-56 triumph.
 
Stockton will play its first home game in a month when the Ospreys host Montclair State on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
