Stockton Edged by Eastern 4-3 in Overtime

St. Davids, Pa. – Stockton University (6-5) erased a two-goal deficit in the fourth quarter to force overtime, but Eastern University (6-4) edged the Ospreys 4-3 in the extra session. Riley DeMarco (Hammonton/Cedar Creek) led Stockton with a goal and an assist.
 
Makayla Alessi (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) gave the Ospreys a 1-0 lead in the first quarter, however Eastern netted one goal apiece in the second, third and fourth periods for a 3-1 count with 9:34 remaining.
 
Brooke Ruiz (Voorhees/Eastern Regional) started the comeback with 8:02 on the clock as she scored her fifth goal of the season with an assist by DeMarco. Just 43 seconds later, DeMarco potted her third marker of the year to pull Stockton into a 3-3 tie.
 
Neither team could break through in the last 7:19 of regulation and the game went to overtime. Eastern's CJ Summa ended the contest with the game-winner just 34 seconds into OT, dealing Stockton the 4-3 setback.
 
Stockton goaltender Erika Roura (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) made seven saves in the game. The Ospreys outshot Eastern 26-14, but Eagles' netminder Angelina Catania tallied 10 stops and was helped by two defensive saves from her teammates.
 
Stockton will play three of its next four games at home, starting with a matchup against 20th-ranked University of Lynchburg on Saturday at noon.
