Stockton Tops TCNJ 3-2

Ewing, N.J. – Stockton University (5-2-4, 1-0-1 NJAC) scored three goals in the first 23 minutes and held off The College of New Jersey (4-4-3, 1-1 NJAC) for a 3-2 victory. Logan Shaw (Hainesport/Rancocas Valley) led the Ospreys with two goals.

Stockton's triumph snapped a 14-game winless streak against TCNJ (0-12-2) since a 1-0 win in double overtime on October 15, 2008. Interim head coach Courtney Dougherty was in the starting lineup for the Ospreys that night.

Shaw got the scoring started just 4:06 into the game with an assist by Megan Morris (Sicklerville/Bishop Eustace). After the Lions tied it 1-1, Shaw netted her second marker of the night with another assist by Morris at 19:23.

Just 3:11 later, Kylee Reissek (Newfield/Delsea) scored the goal for the Ospreys that proved to be the difference. Stockton goalkeeper Morgan Keil (Upper Twp./Holy Spirit) saved a penalty kick early in the second half to keep the margin at two.

TCNJ's Alyssa Alfano made it a 3-2 game in the 74th minute, but Keil added four more stops in the last eight minutes to preserve the lead as Stockton prevailed for its first conference win of the season.

The Ospreys scored on three of their four shots on goal and Keil finished with 11 saves while facing 13 shots on goal. The shot attempts were 33-7 in favor of the Lions.

Stockton will be on the road again on Saturday for an NJAC game at New Jersey City that kicks off at 1:00 p.m.
