Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (8-7, 1-1 NJAC) led wire-to-wire in a 7-0 shutout win over Marywood University (6-8) in a non-conference match on Tuesday afternoon. Seven different players scored points, led by
Riley DeMarco (Hammonton/Cedar Creek) who scored a hat trick and an assist for a career-high seven points.
Carlee Thompson (Gibbsboro/Eastern Regional) dished an assist in the contest giving her 25 in her career, most all-time at Stockton.
The Ospreys opened the onslaught just 2:02 into the match when
Brooke Ruiz (Voorhees/Eastern Regional) took a pass from DeMarco for the quick 1-0 lead.
Jessica Bruther (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) tallied her fourth of the season at 14:10 with a helper from
Meghan Phillips (Somers Point/Holy Spirit) to push the margin to 2-0 after one quarter.
DeMarco scored her first of the game in the second period on a pass from
Kirsten Bailey (Burlington Twp./Burlington Twp.) for a three-goal advantage at the break.
29 seconds into the third frame, Ruiz added her second of the game, when Thompson inserted a penalty corner, giving her the assist mark with 25, breaking the record of 24 set by Alicia Leadbeater (2010-13). Just over a minute later DeMarco, from Bailey, blasted a shot from the wing, before finishing off her hat trick at 36:05, potting her own rebound for the 6-0 lead.
Freshman
Leah Bruchansky (Medford/Shawnee) closed the scoring 5:45 into the final stanza with her second of the season, on the first career assist and point, from fellow frosh
Rylie Doster-Zearfoss (Gloucester City/Gloucester City) for the 7-0 whitewash.
Erika Roura (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) made two saves in posting her third shutout of the year and 10th of her career, moving into a tie for second place on the Stockton career list.
The Ospreys return to NJAC play on Saturday, when the Ospreys travel to Mahwah, NJ to face Ramapo College. Game time is set for 7 pm.
