Glassboro, NJ – Stockton University (8-4-3, 3-1-1 NJAC) played a tough match against Rowan University (9-3-3, 2-2-1 NJAC) but fell 1-0 on a goal in the final minutes of play on Wednesday night. Aiden Hoenisch (Bordentown/Notre Dame) fired off four of the 12 Osprey attempts on the night to lead the team.
 
After a scoreless first half in which both squads had four shots each, the teams picked up the pace, getting another eight attempts for each side in the second frame.
 
The Profs took advantage of a corner kick when Evan Schlotterbeck scored the winning tally after a scrum in front of the net with 2:21 remaining in regulation. Stockton mounted a furious last rally, but Hoenisch was stopped from in front of the net that would have knotted the match with 24 seconds left, as Stockton took their first conference loss of the season 1-0.
 
Ernst Louisius (Asbury Park/Neptune) and Dawson Joseph (East Brunswick/East Brunswick) had two shots on net each for the Ospreys.
 
Kyle Birmingham (Budd Lake/Mt. Olive) made two saves in net for Stockton.
 
Stockton will return home to face Ramapo College on Saturday afternoon for the first of two straight home tilts. Game time is set for 1 pm at G. Larry James Stadium.
