Mahwah, NJ – Stockton University (7-4-5, 2-2-2 NJAC) snapped a two-game losing skid with a key 1-0 road victory over Ramapo College (5-7-2, 1-5-0 NJAC) on Saturday afternoon.
Makayla Jaffe (Middletown/Middletown South) scored her fifth goal of the season to lead the Ospreys. The win moved Stockton into fourth place in the NJAC standings.
Â
The home team started quickly pressuring the Ospreys in the first half with eight shots, including four on net. The Roadrunners fired a pair of shots at 28:02, then another seven seconds later, that
Morgan Keil (Upper Twp./Holy Spirit) kept out of the net.
Â
Stockton took advantage 23 seconds later when Jaffe took a pass from freshman
Jadelyn Sayrafe (Millstone/Allentown) and deposited the marker for the 1-0 lead. It would turn out to be the game winning tally, Jaffe's second of the season.
Â
The score would remain at the one goal margin, as Ramapo was only able to get one more shot on net. It came as time expired in the match, but Keil was up to the task and preserved the 1-0 victory.
Â
Keil made five saves in the game, giving her 247 in her career, moving her into sixth place all-time. Her third whitewash of the season pushed her career total to 20 shutouts, also good for sixth all-time.
Â
Stockton will play their second straight road tilt on Wednesday night, when the Ospreys travel to Newark, NJ to take on Rutgers-Newark. Game time is scheduled for 7 pm.
