Jersey City, N.J. – Stockton University (14-6, 4-2 NJAC) extended its winning streak to seven matches with a 25-19, 25-17, 25-17 sweep of New Jersey City (12-4, 2-3 NJAC). The victory moved the Ospreys into a tie for third place in the conference standings.
Kate Louer (Clifton/Clifton) led Stockton with a team-high 13 kills and a .500 hitting percentage on 24 attacks.
Nicole Palmer (Islip Terrace, N.Y./East Islip) chipped in with eight kills and a match-high nine digs.
Regan Mendick (Newark, Del./Red Lion Christian) handed out 16 assists while
Kristen Burton (Annapolis, Md./Archbishop Spalding) added 12 assists and three of Stockton's six aces in the match.
Laila Newborn (Lower Merion, Pa./Lower Merion) led the Ospreys defensively with seven blocks.
Stockton led the first set from start to finish behind four kills by
Olivia Magro (Brigantine/ACIT) and three apiece by Louer and
Rileigh Wilson (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen).
Louer racked up seven kills in the second set, and the Ospreys used a 10-2 run to pull away. Stockton broke out to an 11-4 lead and cruised to victory in the third frame with a balanced attack in which Louer tallied three kills followed by four of her teammates with two kills each.
Stockton will host a tri-match on Saturday in which the Ospreys will face FDU-Florham at 11:00 a.m. and CCNY at 3:00 p.m.
