Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (9-8, 2-2 NJAC) had its three-game winning streak snapped with a 2-0 setback to No. 22 The College of New Jersey (10-4, 4-1 NJAC). The game was Stockton's fourth of the season against a ranked opponent.
Stockton goaltender
Erika Roura (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) made nine saves, the fourth time that she has recorded at least that many stops in a game this season.
In her second season on the team, Roura became the sixth goalie to record 200 saves in a Stockton uniform. She also made 47 stops in two years at Ramapo.
After an early goal by the visitors, Stockton generated a few chances to tie the game in the opening quarter, including a penalty stroke that was saved by TCNJ goalie Brigitte Racey and a shot on goal by
Brooke Ruiz (Voorhees/Eastern Regional) that was denied by a defensive save.
The Lions potted a goal late in the second quarter, and Stockton trailed 2-0 at the break. A defensive save by
Kirsten Bailey (Burlington/Burlington Twp.) highlighted a scoreless third quarter.
Bailey's defensive save was the 10th of her career, moving her into sole possession of third place in Stockton history.
Most of the play took place outside of the scoring areas in the fourth quarter, with the teams combining for just three shots and three penalty corners.
The Ospreys entered the contest averaging 3.31 goals per game, but they were unable to break through offensively against TCNJ in the 2-0 defeat.
Isabel Maher and Mackenzie Hart scored one goal apiece for the Lions. Racey stymied Stockton with six saves.
The Ospreys will hit the road for their penultimate game of the regular season, which will be at William Paterson on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
