Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University senior goalkeeper
Kyle Birmingham (Budd Lake/Mt. Olive) was named NJAC Defensive Player of the Week in men's soccer for the week of October 20-26. Birmingham collected his first career NJAC weekly honor.
In Stockton's two wins last week, Birmingham made 10 saves, including a career-high seven stops in a scoreless draw against 18th-ranked Montclair State on Saturday. He began the week with a three-save effort in a 2-0 whitewash against Rutgers-Newark on October 22.
Birmingham has been stellar between the pipes in his last four games. The senior has allowed just one goal and has pitched three consecutive shutouts in leading the Ospreys to a potential first-round bye for the NJAC Tournament. Birmingham currently has a scoreless streak of 272 minutes since he last allowed a goal.
The Stockton men's soccer team will finish the regular season with a home match against Kean University on Wednesday night at 7:30 pm. With a win, Stockton can finish no lower than second in the NJAC standings.
