Glassboro, NJ – Stockton University (0-1) played strong defense but allowed a late goal and fell to Rowan University (1-0) by a 2-1 decision on Tuesday night in the season opener for both squads. The Profs are ranked #12 by the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III.
After a scoreless first half, the Profs opened the scoring on a goal at 56:29 by DJ Mosley on an assist from Korey Philpot, the first of his two helpers in the contest.
Stockton answered in the 66th minute when Copper Adinolfi (Medford/Shawnee) scored his first career goal off corner kick by
Owen Edwards (Manchester Twp./Manchester Twp.) It was Edwards' first career point as an Osprey.
The match would remain tight until Evan Vilaboy potted the game winner with just 49 seconds left for the 2-1 win.
Sophomore
Dan Raivitch (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) made his collegiate debut in net making four saves.
Stockton will play a non-conference match on Friday when they face Haverford College at 4pm. The game will be played in Camden, NJ.
