Bre Evans (Neptune/Neptune) with just three seconds on the clock. A steal by
Imene Fathi (Wildwood/Wildwood) as Albright was trying to take the lead set the stage for Evans' foul shot.
Grace Speer (Estell Manor/ACIT) led the Ospreys with team highs of 13 points and seven rebounds.
Haleigh Schafer (Egg Harbor City/Absegami) chipped in with 12 points, six rebounds and three assists.
Freshmen
Zemirah Enalls (Barnegat/Barnegat) and
Riley Fitzpatrick (Barnegat/Barnegat) scored eight and seven points respectively. Evans finished with six points, a game-high six assists, three rebounds and three steals. Stockton led for 36:46 of the game's 40 minutes.
Schafer scored six points to spark the Ospreys to a 17-13 lead after one quarter. Stockton boosted the lead to 14 points during the second period and then took a 33-20 advantage into the break. The Ospreys outscored the Lions 16-7 in the quarter, led by Speer with six markers.
In the third quarter, a three-pointer by Speer gave Stockton its largest lead of the game at 46-22, but Albright responded with a 14-1 run that trimmed the margin to 47-38 after three.
The Ospreys managed to stay in front until the 1:43 mark when the Lions tied the game for the first of three times in a one-minute span. Albright had possession with a chance to take the lead in the closing seconds, but a steal by Fathi gave the ball back to Stockton with six ticks on the clock and a 59-59 count.
Evans then was fouled and sank the first of two from the line for the decisive point in Stockton's 60-59 triumph.
Chrisdin Jones led Albright with a game-high 19 points followed by Julia Parmelee with 11 markers for the home team.
Stockton will have a week before its next game, which will be at home against Washington College (Md.) next Wednesday, September 19 at 5:30 p.m.
