Jersey City, N.J. – Stockton University (3-4, 2-2 NJAC) entered its game at New Jersey City University (6-2, 4-0 NJAC) as a winner of two straight and three of its last four, however the Ospreys fell to the Gothic Knights 73-64.
Eriq Campbell (West Atco/Lindenwold) led all players with 24 points, one off his career high. Campbell shot 10-16 (62.5%) from the field.
Tayvon Gaither went 4-5 (80%) plus a perfect 4-4 at the line for 12 points.
Logan Mckee (Glen Mills, Pa./Phelps School) added nine points while
Andrew Crawford (Haddon Hts./Camden Catholic) compiled a game-high five assists, four points, three rebounds and three steals.
In the first half, Stockton shot 6-12 (50%) from three-point range and 48% overall but trailed 43-36 at the break as NJCU connected at a 53.1% rate. Mckee topped the Ospreys with nine first-half points.
Stockton fell behind 51-41 in the second half before rallying with a 12-2 run to tie the game at 53. Gaither led the charge with eight points and Campbell scored the other four. Despite knotting the game, the Ospreys were not able to overtake NJCU.
Stockton scored just one basket in the last six minutes and suffered the 73-64 setback. Campbell (18) and Gaither (8) combined for all but two of the team's 28 points in the second half. The Ospreys went 2-14 (14.3%) from beyond the arc after halftime.
Bakhi Rogers-Robinson paced the home team with 21 points and Brince Shelton tallied 11 markers.
Stockton's last game before Christmas will be on Saturday when the Ospreys host Rutgers-Newark at 1:00 p.m.
