Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (10-10, 6-7 NJAC) took advantage of a cold shooting second period by Rutgers-Newark (3-17, 0-13 NJAC) and cruised to a 55-35 win on Saturday afternoon.
Katie Rausch (South Brunswick/South Brunswick) led the Ospreys with a career and game-high 19 points.
The game started evenly with Stockton forging a 16-10 lead after one frame. Rausch and
ChiChi Wokocha (Galloway/Absegami) led the way with four points each. In the second period, the Scarlet Raiders could not find the mark, shooting just 1-12 (8.3%) and 0-6 from the charity stripe, while the Ospreys ripped off 15 points, 10 by Rausch, to take a commanding 31-12 margin into the locker room.
Stockton kept their foot on the gas in the second half as every available Osprey saw action, with eight of the nine players scoring points in the 20-point rout.
Wokocha tallied her second double-double of the season with a 12 point, 13 rebound effort, to back up Rausch.
Imene Fathi (Wildwood/Wildwood) tied her season high with eight assists and grabbed nine rebounds, with
Grace Speer (Estell Manor/ACIT) blocking a career-high six shots. Freshman
Evangelina Kim (Egg Harbor Twp./Atlantic Christian) pilfered a career-high five steals on the defensive end.
Quanajah Felder led the visitors with 12 points, with Raihanna Abdus-Salaam chipping in with 10 markers. Tracey Ilderis pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds for the Scarlet Raiders.
Stockton will play their next two games on the road beginning Wednesday night, when the Ospreys will travel to Jersey City, NJ to take on New Jersey City. Game time is set for 5:30 pm.
